In January I was in Canberra working for Street Machine Magazine during Summernats. Now while you may be thinking ‘lucky bastard’, it was mainly super long days inside at Channel 9 studios moving lights around for Uber-photographer Helmut Muller. He was charged with photographing all the studio feature cars on the white cyclorama backgrounds. And while I didn’t get to shoot anything, I did absorb as much info and tips as possible to bring back to little Perth.
A few months later I’d moved into a studio in Subiaco with a 330sq meter cyclorama. And with hardly a clue what I was doing, started shooting cars under controlled lighting conditions.
Paul’s EK was one of my first home field experiments. I’d racked my brains remembering any tips and proceeded to forget most of them. Either way, his EK is stunning. Such attention to detail and cool lines.
<note: it’s 2020 and Paul is still driving the wheels off this thing!!!>
